Lontar palm sugar is a nutrient-rich, low-glycaemic crystalline sweetener that looks, tastes, and dissolves almost exactly like sugar, yet it is completely natural and unrefined.

Production and processing by local villagers is supported and coordinated by the Muntigunung Development and Livelihood Program implementation in 2006 by Yayasan Dian Desa / Future for Children. All activities endeavor to create employment opportunities and economic prospects for poor and malnourished families in villages where Future for Children has secured a clean and sustainable water supply.

In 1972 that group was formally registered as an organization and become Yayasan Dian Desa. At that time, its personnel totaled only four, and YDD’s activities were limited to clean water supply and sanitation. Its operating locations were limited to the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java Province.

YDD is active as a service provider in various development programs conducted by government or international bilateral/multilateral agencies during the planning stages, project design development and/or project implementation.
