Yayasan Dian Desa has received appreciation for its activities from various parties:

Herman Johannes Award – 2025

The Herman Johannes Award for 2025 has been presented to Ir. Anton Sudjarwo, Director of Yayasan Dian Desa. The award was given by the Gadjah Mada Faculty of Engineering Alumni Association (KATGAMA). Anton Sudjarwo received the award in the field of community service and empowerment.

Simavi Institute – 1999

For YDD’s achievement in development and application of Solar Disinfection and sustainable commmunity-based Sanitation for underprivileged rural & urban communities.

Presented by H.M Queen Beatrix in World Water Water Forum 3 – The Hague.

Ramon Magsaysay Award – 1983

For achievement of YDD in community leadership and community empowerment.

Kalpataru award (Indonesian Environment Award) – 1980

For YDD’s activities related to community environmental awareness and the organisation’s sustainable approach (Balance of preservation and utilisation).

MEI (Majelis Ekonomi Indonesia) Award – 1976

For YDD’s activities and development model in improving the economic condition of low income communities in Indonesia.

In 1972 that group was formally registered as an organization and become Yayasan Dian Desa. At that time, its personnel totaled only four, and YDD’s activities were limited to clean water supply and sanitation. Its operating locations were limited to the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java Province.

YDD is active as a service provider in various development programs conducted by government or international bilateral/multilateral agencies during the planning stages, project design development and/or project implementation.
